What do a bridal shop, a construction firm, and a mushroom company all have in common with an OB-GYN? The owners are all women and all are from Afghanistan. The women are all fellows in Project Artemis, a program sponsored by my alma mater, Thunderbird School of Global Business, which brings women entrepreneurs from Afghanistan to Arizona for a two week mini-MBA.
Not only have these exceptional women started companies in a war-torn, male dominated society, but they traveled thousands of miles to learn more about business. I am fortunate to teach the marketing portion of the program and this year, we took an entire day to delve into the 4Ps of marketing, identifying various marketing ideas that would work for each company.
The phrase and theme for the day was "Bang for your Buck" and we explored everything from taco packaging to logos to Starbucks coffee dispensers. Take a look at our day together: Day 10 Bang for your Buck.
