Anca’s Style Tip of the Week: Building Brand YOU!

It starts small, simple, helpful and consistent. My dear friend just started a business. She is an expert at marketing – marketing yourself through personal style. She knows how to help others build a personal image that fits with the core of the individual. What on earth does this mean? It’s simple. You are a brand: you have a name, you have a personality and you interact with other people to build relationships for multiple reasons. It may be to meet friends, build a business or get a job. And in this economy – you need an edge. Personal style plays a role in building Brand You.

So, what does Anca do to build this new business to actually TELL people what she’s doing? She starts a “Style Tip of the Week” and emails it to everyone she knows. She keeps it simple, short and easy to read. She also emails consistently. Most important, she makes it relevant.

How would you go about branding a health educator who teaches Childbirth, Newborn Care, Breastfeeding and Infant CPR? I teach at UCSF and Kaiser Hospitals and have a big following. I would like to have a marketing plan and do things internet/dvd/publishing based. I work with a PhD who specializes in Infants and Sleep. Together we are putting together a complete series for expecting and new parents and want to gear it towards the digital age. Any ideas where to start?
